Rastro markets benissaThe Spanish markets are a real must and a pleasant break from your holiday because of their multicolour, wide range of fruit and vegetables, ceramics, regional products, but also the flea markets are worth a visit!

We give you some locations where these markets are held and on which days of the week. Most markets are from 9am to around 2pm.

If you are interested in local produce and crafts, make sure you visit the weekly markets. On Saturday mornings, you can visit Benissa explore the street market, where you can find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to handmade jewellery and souvenirs.

Weekly markets

Benidorm Saturday & Sunday El Cisne. Small but extremely cosy flea and antique market. With live music, covered terraces and Leo the Cheese Farmer with a very wide range of cheese. Carretera nacional N-332 Km. 124 close to Beniso campsite. From about 8am to 1.30pm, but catering continues. Park next to the market in a large car park.
Denia Monday - Saturday
On Monday mornings, the 'Mercadillo' has been a regular tradition for years, in the Torrecremada car park. There are ~400 market stalls to browse around. Besides fruit, vegetables and other edibles, you'll find clothes, ceramics, terracotta pots, hats, baskets, toys,... But also well-priced leather goods like bags, shoes and belts.
Denia Monday - Friday Fish market at the port of Denia. From about 15:30 to 18:00, you can see the fishing boats coming in. Then from around 5pm you can buy fresh fish, where it goes without saying that there is a great selection of Mediterranean seafood and shellfish on display.
Petrer Working days Mercado Central. Approximately from 8am to 2pm on Calle del Mercado Central. Vegetables, fruit, meat, fish.
Santa Pola Daily Mercado Central : Plaza Maestro Quislant approximately from 9am to 2pm. Covered market for vegetables, fruit, fish, meat, among others.
Torrevieja All days Paseo Marítimo de la Libertad. Souvenirs, watches, etc. Don't go there especially, but if you're in Torrevieja anyway.

 

Rural market with regional products: Mercat de la Terra

In recent years, there have also been an increasing number of special markets with a rural or organic theme.

For example, there is the Mercat de la Terra in Xaló (Jalón) This market takes place in the city centre. The market is based on organic and traditional local produce. Each market then has its own theme. Almonds, olive oil, bread, pottery, wine, sausage products. This market is on Sundays from 9:00 to 14:00. In summer, the market is in the evening from 18:00 to 22:00
